My Latest Pull List – March 13th, 2013

Posted by under *like, Comics |

Weekly comic books are a big part of my life and below is a list of what I’ll be picking up this Wednesday along with cover artwork and previews courtesy of Comixology’s Pull List app.

A break from having having eight new books on my list this time around. Seven is different from eight, right? Although there is that Giant Size X-Men #1 homage cover on IDW’s Ghostbusters #2… Maybe I’ll be coming home with eight new books today after all.

  • AGE OF ULTRON #2– I didn’t hate Age of Ultron #1, but I’m not sure that I liked it. The violence was over the top, and I almost felt like I was reading a prequel to Mark Millar’s Old Man Logan. It has alternate universe written all over it (as the previews for the tie-ins also suggest), and I honestly can’t decide if getting thrown in the deep end from page one worked for me or not. It was enough to get me in the door for issue #2 though.
  • BATMAN #18 – Death of the Family has come and gone and this issue brings in guest artist Andy Kubert. The solicit suggests this might be something similar to issue #12 that came on the heels of the big Court of Owls story, and it might be nice to take a deep breath before whatever is coming next.
  • THE MANHATTAN PROJECTS #10 – I’m honestly not sure if I’ve read the last issue of this series. It’s lost my interest a bit after a very strong start, but I can’t imagine I’ll be dropping it from my list any time soon.
  • UNCANNY X-MEN #3 – I’m not entirely sold on some of the motivations of the stars of this series, but given what Bendis’ is doing in All New X-Men this one could pick up in a hurry. Plus, it’s Uncanny X-Men. There’s really no chance that I won’t be buying every one they ship.
  • WOLVERINE #1 – This series probably would have landed on my list just with Paul Cornell and Alan Davis’ names on the creative team, but I’m trying all of the Marvel Now #1s. I don’t really care for Wolverine, but I’ve found myself looking ahead to what this series has in store and I’m going in thinking I might stick with it.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #26 – I know I haven’t read the last issue of this series. In fact, I don’t think I’ve read the last five (I realize continuing to buy a book I’m not reading represents a problem). The cover suggests I may not like what’s in store, but I do enjoy Ramon Perez’s artwork.
  • X-MEN: LEGACY #7 – I’ve let myself fall behind on this title as well, but seeing Blindfold on the cover, and the connection both she and Legion have to Destiny, might be enough to have me playing catch up Wednesday night.

Check back every week to see what’s on My Latest Pull List and please share your thoughts on these titles and everything you’re reading this week in the comments.
