My Latest Pull List – March 5th, 2014

Posted by under *like, Comics |

Seven new books on my list this Wednesday and five of them are first issues Dark Horse, Image, and the “All-New Marvel Now” line.

  • FOREVER EVIL #6 – Feels like a long time since issue #5 and with Justice League moving away from the Owlman/Nightwing story in recent issues I find myself very anxious for what comes next. The cover and solicit suggest it’s nothing good.
  • MAGNETO #1 – I’m thoroughly enjoying Brian Bendis’ X-Men books, but I’m not sure Magneto (or Cyclops for that matter) needs a solo series at the moment. I haven’t read much of Cullen Bunn’s work but I do recall enjoying Gabriel Hernandez Walta‘s art during Age of X and Curse of the Mutants. This is definitely worth a look.
  • MOOK KNIGHT #1 – I overlooked the “All-New” Moon Knight when I first saw Marvel’s latest wave of new titles until someone pointed it out as a possible reddit/r/rcomicbooks “Pull of the Week” for early 2014. I like the character and the creative team of Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey, and I want this to be great.
  • STARLIGHT #1 – Just noticed this on the shipping schedule on Monday and while I’m not the biggest Mark Millar fan it deserves a look.
  • UNCANNY X-MEN #18 – I don’t know anything about artist Marco Rudy but the cover to this issue is pretty great. The interiors shown in the preview pages suggest a unique style.
  • VEIL #1 – I’m enjoying Greg Rucka‘s Lazarus series to the point where I cannot pass up another new title with him at the helm.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #1 – When it was all said and done, I found myself disappointed with Jason Aaron’s previous volume of this series. There are only a handful of issues I genuinely enjoyed as things usually ran a bit too silly for my tastes. I regularly read all of the X-titles, but it’s going to take a lot from Jason Latour and Mahmud Asrar’s first issue to keep me coming back.

Weekly comic books are a big part of my life and I regularly post what I’ll be picking up each Wednesday along with cover artwork and previews courtesy of Comixology’s Pull List app.

Check back every week to see what’s on My Latest Pull List and share your thoughts what you’re reading this week.
