My Latest Pull List – February 19th, 2014

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

Seven new books on my list this Wednesday, though I may only bring five of these home with me.

  • AMAZING X-MEN #4 – I have to admit I kind of forget about this title between issues. As much as I appreciate Firestar as part of the cast (offset by irritation at her absence from the New Warriors line up), I may be done with this after the first arc. I stuck with Jason Aaron’s Wolverine and the X-Men longer than I should have and I’m fearing this is heading in the same direction.
  • AVENGERS WORLD #3 – I’m seriously contemplating dropping this series on the spot. Three Avengers titles is pushing it for me and I honestly can’t even tell you what’s happening in this book.
  • CAPTAIN AMERICA #17 – Thinking about picking this up for the appearance of Dr. Mindbubble. I seem to recall him being referenced in Rick Remender‘s Uncanny X-Force. Any feedback from people reading the series is appreciated.
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE #28 – The Forever Evil tie-in issues of Justice League have been decent enough. I’m more invested in Nightwing and Cyborg than the Metal Men, but this could be fun.
  • NEW WARRIORS #1 – I really enjoyed the original series and it’s good to see something similar returning. Chris Yost writing is an added bonus as a fan of his New X-Men/X-Force runs.
  • UNCANNY X-MEN #17 – I sometimes can’t believe how much I’m enjoying Brian Bendis‘ X-Men titles and Chris Bachalo‘s art will move this to the top of my reading list this week.
  • X-MEN #11 – All-New Marvel Now double shipping and a general lack of interest in the current arc has me an issue or two behind on this series.

Big week with ten new books on my list for this Wednesday.

  • ALL-NEW X-FACTOR #3 – I’m already behind on this title. Double shipping can be the worst.
  • ALL-NEW X-MEN #23 – This is my favorite book right now and I’m completely on board with the crossover with Guardians of the Galaxy. Looking forward to see the two teams actually interact.
  • AVENGERS #26 – The words “science war” in the solicit have really captured my attention.
  • BATMAN #28 – Can’t say enough good things about this title. There are times I feel like Zero Year is a let down, but I’m wrong. I just forget what how much I’m enjoying it between issues.
  • SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #27 – I dropped Superior at issue #3. Not entirely sure I’ll end up bringing this home, but the Goblin Nation story starting here is a huge draw.
  • SHE-HULK #1 – Writer Charles Soule is making a name for himself in comics, but his legal background makes him a perfect fit for She-Hulk’s alter-ego Jennifer Walters.
  • WINTER SOLDIER #1 – I’m not trying all of the All-New Marvel Now titles, but Andrew Robinson’s cover art really caught my eye.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #41 – I’m more than ready for this to end and I’m just seeing it through to the final issue. I’m loyal to a fault with Marvel’s X-titles, but this is one I should have bailed on a long time ago.
  • X-FORCE #1 – Two X-Force titles may have been a bit much, but the teams coming together here have a ton of potential. Cable and Psylocke alone would get this on my list.
  • X-MEN: LEGACY #24 – The final issue of a title I let myself fall way too far behind on. Looking forward to catching up on what I’ve missed.

My Latest Pull List – February 5th, 2014

Six new books on my list for this Wednesday.

  • FOREVER EVIL #5 – Feels like forever since the last issue of this series with so many titles on my list double-shipping. Looking forward to seeing what’s next for the remaining heroes of the DCU.
  • LAZARUS #6 – This was my favorite new series of 2013. Plausible science fiction, great world building, and enough intrigue to keep me around for the duration.
  • MS. MARVEL #1 – I still miss Carol Danvers as Ms. Marvel, but this definitely looks like it’s worth a shot.
  • NEW AVENGERS #14 – Easily the Avengers book I’m enjoying the most.
  • WOLVERINE #1 – Trying this almost exclusively for Paul Cornell.
  • X-MEN #10 – This book is going to get hit with some shrapnel here. I get Marvel rolling out the All-New Marvel Now banner for their latest crop of new titles. I even get throwing a giant “#1” on the covers of existing titles to pull them into the rebranding and spark interest in a new arc (a #1 on both chapters one and two of a crossover is pushing it when it comes to All-New X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy). Then this book has a giant “#1” on the cover and it’s clearly the middle of an arc. It’s a decent arc, but the point to jump in was three months ago.

Six new books on my list for this Wednesday and all of them pretty great.

  • GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #11 – The Trial of Jean Grey. I’m really into this crossover with All-New X-Men. Particularly looking forward to seeing Sara Pichelli’s take on the original X-Men.
  • SAGA #18 – Always a welcome entry on the list.
  • SERENITY LEAVES ON THE WIND #1 – I have high hopes for this extension of Joss Whedon’s space western.
  • UNCANNY AVENGERS #16 – There was no way I wasn’t sticking with this title with Havok on the roster, but things have really picked up in recent months. Steve McNiven art certainly doesn’t hurt.
  • UNCANNY X-FORCE #17 – The Vendetta crossover with Cable and X-Force is a great next chapter for Hope Summers. It feels like things might be wrapping up too quickly though.
  • X-MEN LEGACY #23 – Amazing cover art. One day I’ll get to the interior material.

My Latest Pull List – January 22nd, 2014

It looks like 2014 starts for real with a ton of books shipping this week. Eleven new books made it on to my list for this Wednesday.

  • ALL-NEW INVADERS #1 – I’m not entirely sure I’ll be picking this up, but the All-New Marvel Now Point One story certainly piqued my interest.
  • ALL-NEW X-FACTOR #2 – Forgot about the double-shipping that accompanied the first wave of the Marvel Now rebranding. It looks like we’ll be seeing the same with the All-New books. I imagine that will greatly impact my ability to keep up with my reading.
  • ALL-NEW X-MEN #22 – This is at the top of my reading list every time it ships and I can’t wait for the crossover with Bendis’ Guardians of the GalaxyThe Trial of Jean Grey starts here!
  • AVENGERS #25 – Jonathan Hickman’s new arc for this series coming out of Infinity is off to a solid start.
  • AVENGERS WORLD #2 – Unfortunately Hickman’s newest Avengers series isn’t grabbing my attention.
  • BATMAN #27 – DC’s monthly shipping schedule stands in stark contrast to the rapid pace of Marvel’s line. It really gives me a chance to miss this book.
  • CABLE AND X-FORCE #19 – The Vendetta crossover with Uncanny X-Force has been exactly what I’m looking for as the next chapter for Cable and Hope.
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE #27 – The Forever Evil tie-in story is intriguing. I’m just left wondering where the main series is on the schedule.
  • ORIGIN II #2 – I’m a big fan of Kieron Gillen and Adam Kubert, but not so crazy about Wolverine. Their first issue of this series got me to commit for the whole thing.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #40 – I was going through the motions getting this title for a long time, but the Battle of the Atom issues and the current arc have been a real treat.
  • X-MEN #9 – A bit let down by the current story after a strong start and Battle of the Atom but there’s still huge potential for where things could go.
