My Latest Pull List – August 28th, 2013

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

Weekly comic books are a big part of my life and below is a list of what I’ll be picking up this Wednesday along with cover artwork and previews courtesy of Comixology’s Pull List app.

Ten new books on my list this week.

  • ASTONISHING X-MEN #66 – Very behind on this series.
  • CAPTAIN MARVEL #15 – An Infinity tie-in. I really can’t wait to read this based on the cover art alone.
  • DOCTOR WHO: PRISONERS OF TIME #8 – An Eighth Doctor story is a rare thing for me as I don’t follow much beyond what’s been on television. Much like this weekend’s BBC special dedicated to this incarnation’s adventures, I’m really looking forward to this.
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE #23Trinity War concludes. I’ll have half of it to read come Wednesday.
  • LAZARUS #3 – I could have easily missed this series and I can’t tell you how happy I am that I decided to give it a shot. It has become one of my favorite titles and will be one of the first books I read on Wednesday.
  • NEW AVENGERS #9 – An Infinity tie-in. Last week’s Avengers tie-in issue was pretty great and I’ve generally been enjoying Jonathan Hickman‘s New Avengers more, so I’m expected a lot from this book.
  • UNCANNY AVENGERS #11 – Another fantastic cover for this week. I often forget how much I like this series between issues.
  • UNCANNY X-MEN #11 – This series has consistently delivered and I expect nothing less here. The current arc has already had some fun twists and turns.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #35The Hellfire Saga concludes. Of course, I thought that last issue as well.

Weekly comic books are a big part of my life and below is a list of what I’ll be picking up this Wednesday along with cover artwork and previews courtesy of Comixology’s Pull List app.

Seven new books on my list this week.

  • AVENGERS #18 – An Infinity tie-in. I enjoyed the kick off to the main series last week and I’m happy to be past the prelude issues of this series.
  • CABLE AND X-FORCE #13 – I like seeing Hope on the cover once again (It was incorrectly posted as the cover for the previous issue as well). Hopefully, the interior gives her some panel time.
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #23Trinity War continues and I have to catch up on last week’s JLA as well.
  • SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #3 – I’m not entirely sure I read issue #2, but I’m committed to giving this at least three issues. This might be my last since the series hasn’t captured my attention quite the way Scott Snyder’s Batman has.
  • X-FACTOR #261 – The cover art for this issue was under wraps until recently. It doesn’t seem to hold the promise of addressing old plot lines like the rest of Peter David’s End of X-Factor has, but I’m sure it won’t disappoint.
  • X-MEN #4 – This series started off strong, but I wasn’t totally crazy about how the first arc ended. No reason to think more good things aren’t in store from Brian Wood though.
  • X-MEN: LEGACY #15 – Very behind in my reading, but Mike Del Mundo’s cover art continues to be impressive

My Latest Pull List – August 14th, 2013

Weekly comic books are a big part of my life and below is a list of what I’ll be picking up this Wednesday along with cover artwork and previews courtesy of Comixology’s Pull List app.

Nine new books on my list. I’m kind of excited about having them shipped to my remote location this week (i.e. on vacation).

  • ASTONISHING X-MEN #65 – I don’t even know how far behind I am on this title. It’s good to see Iceman (Icemen?) in the spotlight though.
  • BATMAN #23 – I’m really enjoying Zero Year so far. Last week’s Batman Annual was a decent segue, but it will be good to get back to the main story.
  • HALO INITIATION #1 – I’ve spent a lot of time on nearly all-things-Halo over the years, but I never gave the Marvel run of comics much time. For some reason the move to Dark Horse has captured my attention.
  • INFINITY #1 – Happy to see this is arriving on Wednesday even though I have no idea what to expect from it.
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #7 – DC’s Trinity War continues in the Justice League titles.
  • SAGA #13 – It’s nice to see Saga return after a four month hiatus. Unfortunately, it takes a step back to tell us how the protagonists got where we last saw them before we see where things are headed next. The Will also continues to be a standout character in the series’ return.
  • UNCANNY X-FORCE #10 – Kris Anka’s cover for this issue is wild. Good thing Puck only has that one old costume to attack him.
  • UNCANNY X-MEN #10 – Artist Frazer Irving returns. I prefer Chris Bachalo on this title, but the preview for this issue looks great.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #34The Hellfire Saga concludes and I have a stack of digital issues to get caught up on.

My Latest Pull List – August 7th, 2013

Weekly comic books are a big part of my life and below is a list of what I’ll be picking up this Wednesday along with cover artwork and previews courtesy of Comixology’s Pull List app.

Where did you come from, August? Seven new books on my list last week with a lot to look forward to.

  • ALL-NEW X-MEN #15 – Can’t say enough good things about this book. Is that Beast with Jean on the cover?! Young Cyclops’ world appears to be falling completely apart.
  • AVENGERS #17Infinity couldn’t get here soon enough. I enjoy Jonathan Hickman‘s Avengers but I need to see how it all comes together for Marvel’s latest event.
  • CABLE AND X-FORCE #12 – I like seeing Hope on the cover once again. Hopefully, the interior gives her some panel time as well.
  • CYBER FORCE #5 – I’m not sure that I read #4 but it’s easy enough to find. This whole series is free in print, digitally, and Marc Silvestri would probably read it to you if you called him.
  • THE MANHATTAN PROJECTS #13 – Issue #12 was likely my last for this series. I loved Jonathan Hickman’s alternate history/mad science series when it launched, but my enthusiasm for it has waned to the point where I am several issues behind without much chance I’ll catch up any time soon. It’s best that I step away until I can make a more informed decision about continuing.
  • TRILLIUM #1 – Giving Jeff Lemire‘s tale of time-crossed lovers a shot. “It’s the last love story ever told.”
  • X-FACTOR #260 – Peter David’s X-Factor farewell tour has been fantastic. Really looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Polaris and Quicksilver here.
