Philadelphia Comic Con: A Girl’s View
We have already posted a bunch about the Philadelphia Comic Con thrown by Wizard and there is much more to follow. I for one am fairly shocked by how much I came away with. If you read this site for the comic book content, you don’t even know who I am. If you know who I am from reading the site, you know that I am not a comic book fan. In fact, we had cards printed up to hand out and one of my dislikes listed was comics. Anyway. My overall view of the Con… was that it was not about comics. I had a great time, but I am completely exhausted. And man, this all made blogging seem like so much work.
I can barely concentrate on one thing enough to write this post. I have so much to say. The costumes were crazy. As you can see above, I even went in costume. I like to call it “birdbrain cub photographer”. I interviewed one girl who was clearly there for the wrestlers (she is at the far left of the group photo). I tried to find out who she was there to see specifically. She had no answer.
Oh! And speaking of the celebrities there. Who is going to pay $100 to have a drink with Jake Busey? That may have been the most ridiculous thing I saw the entire weekend. That or the fact that Tony Luke was there. Silly, but at least we were willing to talk to him. Sorry, Jake Busy.
Other standout items to me included, questioning the difference between Hot Books and Cool Books. There must not be much of one, because they were the same price. Artist Alley was interesting to me. Not from the fan perspective, but more from the graphic designer perspective. Be on the lookout because I will be posting more about that later.
There were a couple jewelry makers there that helped entertain me as well. Some that were designers with metal. And some that put earring posts into Legos. Sold!
Lastly, I have some gripes. Click on the thumbnails below to view the photos that go along with these.
#1. Regal Cinemas: Great you were there to push movies. Your employees were annoyed by the end of Friday that they were there. Thanks for the puzzle, but High Five is a really lame prize.
#2. Star Nerds is really an appropriate title for Star Wars fans. They were the main thing at the show. And they scrapbook.
#3. Name tags? Seriously? See more on this in my Vampire Post
