Philadelphia Comic Con: A view from the floor

Posted by ptb under *mixed, Comics | Leave a Comment |

As we wrap up our coverage of last weekend’s Philadelphia Comic Con, we shift the focus to some final words on the fans, the vendors and the guests in attendance. Since I wasn’t feeling qualified to judge the show fairly, it seemed like a good idea to ask the people we met what they thought. Below are some of the highlights of our conversations along with some editorial comments of my own.

Philadelphia Comic Con: Steampunk

Posted by Angelique under *like, Comics, Miscellany | Join The Discussion |

I’m not quite sure how to explain it, but there is something interesting about the steampunk presence at the Philadelphia Comic Con. I know this is not a new phenomenon or fascination. It is a part of sci-fi that isn’t going anywhere. I guess I was just surprised that there were vendors that fell into this category.

Philadelphia Comic Con: Free Stuff!

Posted by Angelique under *like, Comics, Miscellany | Join The Discussion |

Sure we got bags with a bunch of garbage in them when part of the team went to the Philadelphia Comic Con (hosted by Wizard) last weekend , but that doesn’t mean all free stuff is bad!

I bought Pete the mug pictured so you could get this one for free!  Or take $10 off any order at SuperHeroStuff.com.  Just make sure to use the code “PHILLY1″.  The offer is good until July 31, 2010, so go now!

Enjoy!  And don’t forget…if you want to thank us for these savings, COMMENT on the site!  We love comments!!

Philadelphia Comic Con: Kaiju Big Battel

Kaiju Big Battel ranks as one of the most absurd events I’ve ever attended, and I love it. I don’t know a lot about it, but it makes sense that I would enjoy it as it combines American professional wrestling with Japanese monster movies. It’s not shy about being over the top and if that description appeals to you on any level you should absolutely check it out. Read more of this article »

Philadelphia Comic Con: A Very Brady Post

Posted by Angelique under *like, Miscellany | Join The Discussion |

I wasn’t going to post my “celebrity review” from the Philadelphia Comic Con by Wizard until later in the week.  I had a few more things I wanted to write up first, but then KevinMLD tried to steal my thunder and post about this very topic.  Jerk ;)

There weren’t many names on the list of celebrities scheduled to appear that I had ever heard before, let alone was interested in.  Having watched both America’s Next Top Model AND My Fair Brady, it seemed appropriate that the celebrity interview I requested was Adrianne Curry. We did not end up not having a formal interview, and I am ok with that.  Just a quick chat was enough. Read more of this article »
