My Latest Pull List – April 9th, 2014

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

Six new books for this Wednesday.

  • ALL-NEW DOOP #1 – Not totally committed to this one, but it will definitely get a look at the store.
  • ALL-NEW X-FACTOR #6 – How is this up to issue #6 already?
  • ALL-NEW X-MEN #25 – I enjoyed The Trial of Jean Grey and look forward to what comes next for the Original Five. I’m not sure how much we’ll see of that in this issue based on the solicitation.
  • BATMAN ETERNAL #1 – I didn’t think I was going to get this, but the preview issue in Batman was enough to merit a look at the first issue.
  • CAPTAIN MARVEL #2 – I like the new status quo here.
  • NIGHTCRAWLER #1 – Much like All-New Doop, I may pass on this but it will get strong consideration, particularly in light of the decent first arc of Amazing X-Men.

Weekly comic books are a big part of my life and I regularly post what I’ll be picking up each Wednesday along with cover artwork and previews courtesy of Comixology’s Pull List app.

My Latest Pull List – April 2nd, 2014

It’s an odd week with only three new books on my list.

  • INHUMAN #1 – Joe Madureira is enough for this book to get a look.
  • MAGNETO #2 – Issue #1 is on top of my list of books to read. Just need to make time before Wednesday.
  • MOOK KNIGHT #2 – Strong start to this series. Definitely worth going back for more.

My Latest Pull List – March 26th, 2014

Lots of books shipping this week, eleven found their way onto my list for Wednesday.

  • ALL-NEW GHOST RIDER #1 – Definitely worth a look.
  • ALL-NEW X-FACTOR #5 – All-New Marvel Now double-shipping has me way behind on this one.
  • AMAZING X-MEN #5 – This series has been decent enough. The inclusion of Firestar is a big plus, but I’m really just waiting for Kyle and Yost to take over.
  • AVENGERS #27 – I think I missed an issue here. It’s around here somewhere.
  • GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #13 – Despite a few questions about the premise of this story, I am truly enjoying The Trial of Jean Grey. This will be the first book I read this week.
  • NEW AVENGERS #16 – I know I’ve missed an issue of this one, but it’s waiting on the desk right in front of me.
  • ORIGIN II #4 – Immediately fell behind on this as I seem to with most miniseries. I’ll likely wait to read it from start to finish once it’s all published.
  • SANDMAN OVERTURE #2 – Strongly considering waiting for the trade on this given the extended shipping schedule, but it will be hard to leave the store without a copy of issue #2.
  • SERENITY LEAVES ON THE WIND #3 – I did not stick with continuing adventures of Buffy or Angel, but this is something I could see myself reading for the long haul.
  • SILVER SURFER #1 – This could be a strong contender for “Pull of the Week.” Look out, Hawkeye.
  • UNCANNY AVENGERS #18 – Much like the recent All-New Marvel Now issue of Brian Wood’s X-Men, I’m not sure why this issue that’s clearly in the midst of an ongoing story arc gets a giant “#1” on the cover. It’s by no means a bad story and I’m looking forward to reading it, but it’s hard to envision it as a start to anything.

My Latest Pull List – March 19th, 2014

Six new books again this Wednesday.

  • LAZARUS #7 – I can’t wait for this book each month.
  • NEW AVENGERS #15 – This is still my favorite of Hickman’s Avengers title.
  • SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #6 – I actually dropped this book from my pull list after issue #2 and then regretted it after seeing the flashback sequences in #5 and had to jump back in.
  • UNCANNY X-MEN #19 – This series is solid each month and I’m looking forward to seeing what the All-New Marvel Now rebranding has in store.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #2 – Keeping this on my list for the first arc. And then forever. Because I don’t drop books.
  • X-MEN #12 – Still a few issues behind on this one.

My Latest Pull List – March 12th, 2014

Pretty typical list this week with six new books for Wednesday.

  • ALL-NEW X-FACTOR #4 – I’m already behind on this series as a result of the All-New Marvel Now double shipping schedule, but Peter David’s X-Factor is always going to be on my list.
  • ALL-NEW X-MEN #24 – The Trial of Jean Grey continues. I’m enjoying this crossover with Guardians of the Galaxy and Brian Bendis is providing some great moments. Unfortunately I can’t quite get past the questions I have about how Corsair is back and why the Shi’Ar would go after Jean now. It would help if Gladiator (or anyone else) would justify that Jean’s return is an issue because of Phoenix activity during AvX or Battle of the Atom or really anything else.
  • BATMAN #29 – It’s not that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy the Batman Eternal preview last month, but I’m certainly looking forward to the next chapter of Zero Year. I don’t know if I can commit to a weekly Batman Eternal book, but I’ll continue with Snyder and Capullo’s Batman monthly as long as they’re on it.
  • CAPTAIN MARVEL #1 – The last Captain Marvel relaunch just missed the start of the Marvel Now wave. Hopefully an All-New Marvel Now relaunch allows it go for a decent run. Kelly Sue DeConnick’s writing is right where it needs to be and David Lopez is a solid regular artist.
  • X-FORCE #2 – Still not sure about this latest X-Force relaunch but the first issue was an interesting start. The dynamic between Cable and Psylocke has a lot of appeal, but what happened to Hope?!
  • X-MEN LEGACY #300 – I’m way behind on the Legion-fronted volume of this book, but I won’t let that stop me from jumping right into this. Mike Carey alone makes this a must buy.
