X-Men: Regenesis on MyLatestDistraction

The X-Men are very important to me and after months of anticipation the latest landmark moment for Marvel’s mutants is finally here in the form of  X-Men: Regenesis. All week we’ve had a lot to say about what’s seen print so far and as the rebranding rolls out through November there’s bound to be a

Standard Deviations vol. 1:
X-Men: Regenesis variant covers

I am an unabashed fan and reader of Marvel Comics’ X-Men, but I am also a collector. As a consequence, I’ll go out of my way to track down variant covers of issues from most titles in the X-franchise. A quick disclaimer before we go on, I know the interior pages are identical, I know the

REVIEW: Wolverine and the X-Men #1 (X-Men Regenesis)

Marvel’s X-Men: Regenesis began in full this week with the introduction of the new ongoing series Wolverine and the X-Men from writer Jason Aaron and artist Chris Bachalo. X-Men: Regenesis begins this November

For the past two weeks, Marvel Comics has been releasing a set of their trademark silhouetted teaser images, this time focusing on the X-Men line. With the promise of big changes to the X-Men’s status quo following the current Schism series by Jason Aaron, these teasers suggest a very different landscape for Marvel’s mutants beyond Cyclops simply

The State of the Avengers – Spring 2011

Last year we spent some time talking about the relaunch of Marvel’s Avengers line here at MLD. These series introduced the publisher’s new Heroic Age that introduced new lineups, new creative teams and new threats. It was a good time to give all of these titles a shot. Some of the books really captured my attention,

Prof. Xavier’s Lonely Hearts Club Mutants

A Marvel press release on Friday provided an advance preview of Marvel’s X-Men #7 from the new series by Victor Gischler. I’m not sure why the preview was released now since #6 hasn’t shipped yet, but I have a pretty good guess as Spider-Man joins the X-Men for this story arc. Many fans have been critical

The State of the X-Men – Fall 2010

There was a lot for this X-Men fan to be thankful for this week as all four major X-titles shipped on Wednesday. While in many ways this is great, I can’t help but recognize how much the publishing scheme for these books has changed after they had been coming out weekly for almost all of

How I spent my Summer (Spider-) Vacation 2010

I had the chance to get away over the last few weeks and made a serious effort to avoid anything resembling work. As a result, I managed to read a few comics that have been laying around this place for a while. This was the same plan I attempted last year, but as you’ll see,
