Inception Explained South Park Style

Posted by under *like, Movies | Join The Discussion |

In high school, I always got the Cliffs Notes.  Well, not always…sometimes there was already a movie version, and if so, I was all over that.  If you’re like me, and you have a hard time sitting still to read anything longer than a single paragraph and would rather be captivated by mind-numbing pictures, then boy do I have a treat for you.  Previously we conducted an in-depth review of Inception, but if you’re still confused and want the cinematic explanation, then click on my friend…click on. LydonReviews Dinner for Schmucks

Last night after a dinner in Langhorne, PA at Jimmy Buffet’s Cheeseburger in Paradise, which warrants a post about crappy cover bands (a topic I know a thing or two about as PTB and KevinMLD will surely remember from my previous Diary of a Bass Player column from the old Break Even site), my wife and I saw Dinner for Schmucks, the American remake of the French movie The Dinner Game, itself based on the French play, Le Diner de Cons, both written by Francis Veber. Thanks for the info, Wikipedia! You make me look smart! Oh, and for those that don’t speak French, the translated titled apparently DOES mean “Dinner for Idiots”.

Our Latest Distraction: Inception

Posted by under *like, Movies | Join The Discussion |

Over the last week many of us at MLD took the opportunity to see Christopher Nolan’s film Inception. We’ve been very eager to have a spoiler-filled discussion, but wanted to give other people time to see it first. We all have a very fundamental disagreement about what even happens in the movie, and a line has been drawn in the sand about it. If you’ve seen it, please let us know whose side you’re on. If you see it this weekend, what took you so long? But you need to take a side as well. Note, the discussion below features tons of spoilers not just about Inception, but Memento, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight as well. You’ve been warned.

TRON comes to the iPhone

Posted by under *like, Movies, Video Games | Leave a Comment |

Imagine my surprise and delight when an advertisement in the iPhone’s Words game took me to this new TRON app! Released earlier this week, it features links to trailers for TRON: Legacy and the TRON: Evolution video game, as well as information on the ComiTRON panel at the San Diego Comic Con this week. The main attraction is a TRON Tanks game that has 15 levels and has been a lot of fun in the time I’ve spent playing it. The best part is it’s all free.

I’m a big fan of the original movie and I’m really looking forward to the sequel coming this December. Check this out if you’re already a fan or just want to learn more about the world of TRON.
