REVIEW: Secret #1

Posted by under *mixed, Comics | Leave a Comment |

New from writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Ryan Bodenheim is Secret, a series that aims to combine industrial espionage with political conspiracy.  Though I’m glad I read its first installment, the book left me somewhat underwhelmed.  Admittedly, Secret #1 was my first introduction to Hickman’s writing.  Given the high level of praise he receives on various comic book forums across the internet, my expectations were rather elevated.

Shawn Michaels shares the good news that he'll be the Special Guest Referee in Triple H's Hell in a Cell match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVIII. Michaels will be a factor in the Undertaker maintaining his 19-0 undefeated streak at WrestleMania for a fourth straight year.

As expected, last week’s Monday Night Raw from Boston dedicated a lot of time to the Rock and John Cena with their upcoming match at WrestleMania XXVIII. Thankfully both men were in attendance to move things along, unlike this week’s Warm Up at MLD where we’re wishing Brian best of luck in “all of his future endeavors.” We’ve brought our old friend “The Jason” up from developmental to get ready for tonight’s Raw in Cleveland, Ohio.

REVIEW: Justice League #6

Posted by under *mixed, Comics | Leave a Comment |

Justice League was the title that kicked off the New 52. With superstar DC executives Geoff Johns and Jim Lee behind the series, it was guaranteed to be a sales phenomenon. Spoilers for Justice League #6 will follow.

Last week's Raw was overshadowed by a live Tuesday edition of Smackdown featuring a champion versus champion main event of C.M. Punk versus Daniel Bryan.

Last week’s Monday Night Raw from Minneapolis left a lot to be desired in both content and execution. The highlight of the night was Chris Jericho winning a 10-man number one contenders battle royal for a chance to challenge C.M. Punk for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 28. Where Raw was lacking, a special live Tuesday night edition of Smackdown more than compensated and we’ll discuss both shows as we head into tonight’s Raw featuring another return for The Rock in Portland, Oregon.

Before Watchmen: Watchmen Babies or Watchmen 2 Electric Boogaloo

Posted by under *mixed, Comics | Leave a Comment |

So today was the day DC Comics finally got around to announcing their worst kept secret since their line wide relaunch: a prequel to Alan Moore’s Watchmen. Thanks mostly to Bleeding Cool, we had been hearing about the development of this series for at least a year. We knew many of the key players. We’ve even seen some concept art. (Seriously DC – Your employees CANNOT keep a secret… Even your new logo design was a hint. Unless it was all leaked deliberately.) So here we are just months away from new Watchmen stories; an event so inevitable that it was parodied on the Simpsons years ago in the form of Watchmen Babies. And yet it has still proven to be controversial at the time of the announcement.
