Catching up with the Walking Dead
Part 1: The page versus the screen

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

Last week we spent some time discussing the first half of AMC’s The Walking Dead – Season Two in preparation for last Sunday’s mid-season premiere. Much of that conversation revolved around the distinctions we’re seeing between the television series and Robert Kirkman’s comic book series from Image. With more than 90 issues published, KevinMLD has been reading since the beginning. Rather than waiting for PTB to read through it all in order, we decided to dive in with a discussion of issue #91 through the current issue #93.

Spoilers for all forms of The Walking Dead will follow with some specific details from The Walking Dead #91-93.

REVIEW: Star Wars – Dawn of the Jedi #1

Posted by under *dislike, Comics | Leave a Comment |

This week sees the release of Dark Horse Comics’ Star Wars – Dawn of the Jedi #1. The new series, written by comics legend John Ostrander and set in an ancient era of Star Wars history, sounded like just the type of book that might draw a couple of lapsed fans here at MLD into the Star Wars comics universe for the first time. After poring over the detailed backstory for this series a few weeks ago in the encyclopedic Star Wars – Dawn of the Jedi #0, we were anxious to get to the meat of the story. Unfortunately, this series looks to be a no-go for both of us as a lot of the same information from issue #0 is represented again here and issue #1 was unable to pull us in.

Spoilers for Dark Horse’s Star Wars – Dawn of the Jedi #1 will follow.

Monday Night Raw Warm Up for February 13th, 2012

Chris Jericho was back in typical form both on the mic and in the ring last week even though he saw the tables turned on his trolling by WWE Champion C.M. Punk.

Despite a lot of attention to a possible WrestleMania rematch between the Undertake and Triple H, last week’s Raw managed to shine the spotlight around quite a bit throughout the night. The twelve Elimination Chamber participants from Raw and Smackdown were in action along with a host of Divas and this year’s Royal Rumble winner, Sheamus. Hopefully that kind of balance will continue on the last live show before this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

The Walking Dead returns to round out season two

Posted by under *like, Television | Join The Discussion |

In our previous discussions of AMC’s The Walking Dead, we’ve been very careful not to spoil details from the Image Comics series the show is based on. With nearly one-hundred issues published, there’s a great deal to mine for television but the two series are becoming more and more distinct from one another. The result is both maintaining the sense that anything can happen and no one is safe that the comic series is known for.

As the show returns tonight for the remainder of its second season, we’ll digest everything we’ve seen so far and try to make sense of where things are heading. Spoilers for all forms of The Walking Dead will follow.
