Monday Night Raw Warm Up for Hell in a Cell (10/2/2011)

WWE presents one of the newer additions to their pay-per-view line up tonight with the third annual Hell in a Cell event live from New Orleans, Louisiana. There aren’t many matches announced for the card, so last week’s Monday Night Raw in Kansas City, Missouri spent a lot of time building up the triple threat main event that sees Alberto Del Rio and C.M. Punk challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship. Three competitors in the cage is a first for the Hell in a Cell match and the new twist is likely a consequence of having an event dedicated to a match that was once reserved for only the most heated of rivalries.

Monday Night Raw Warm Up for September 26th, 2011

Last week’s Monday Night Raw from Cleveland, Ohio saw the return of a former staple of the show, the guest host. Hugh Jackman was on the scene to promote his new fightin robot movie, Real Steel, and seemed to really enjoy himself. He wasn’t given complete control of the show, but he definitely got involved. I’m without my tag team partner this week so I’ll slash through things quickly to get ready for tonight’s show.

REVIEW: Doctor Who – Closing Time

Posted by under *like, Television | Leave a Comment |

I enjoy when the Doctor interacts with regular people and James Corden’s appearances on Doctor Who have really highlighted those moments. Closing Time makes for a fun episode, but it’s not one I’m likely to go back to often even though I truly enjoy Cordon’s portrayal of Craig Owens. There’s a looming sense of dread about what lies in the Doctor’s immediate future and his true reasons for visiting his friend at this time, but I’m more than ready for some resolution to this season’s mysteries surrounding the Doctor’s death.

Spoilers for what lurks in department store changing rooms, out of service elevators, and baby talk will follow.

REVIEW: Buffy Season 9 vs CW’s Ringer

We continue our look at September’s “other” number one issues (i.e. books that aren’t part of DC Comics’ “New 52”) with the debut of Dark Horse Comics’ Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine. The series continues the highly successful transition of Joss Whedon’s television series to comics and it’s arguably everything you’d want and expect. I know it might be unfair, but I had a really difficult time reading this book without considering Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new show Ringer that also premiered last week.

Monday Night Raw Warm Up for September 19th, 2011

WWE’s Night of Champions went down last night. Neither of us ordered the pay-per-view event this time around, but the results are readily available (I read this write up and it sounds like the wrestling at least was decent). The impact of last night’s events are sure to be felt on tonight’s Monday Night Raw from Cleveland, OH and it’s worth complementing our thoughts from last week (posted before last night’s show) with some quick thoughts on went down.

I suppose more sensitive readers might appreciate a “spoiler warning” in case they want to discover where things stand for themselves on Raw.
