Top Chef – Washington, DC… sucks.

Posted by under *dislike, Television | Leave a Comment |

This is not a play-by-play of the current season of Top Chef. I could give you one, but it would be a lot of “you suck” and “I miss Jennifer Carroll” quotes. I think it is safe to say that this season of Top Chef is by far its worst.  Not only do I know it, but Bravo knows it.

Season 6 in Las Vegas could not be topped.  There were four chefs — Mike Voltaggio, Brian Voltaggio, Jennifer Carroll, and Kevin Gillesppie — that made meals that looked so good and, in some cases, used complicated techniques never seen on the show. All four of those chefs would win this season without question. Eli, who was fifth, would likely be the favorite, if not top 3.  The season has little talent and even fewer interesting chefs.

REVIEW: New Avengers #1

Posted by under *dislike, Comics | Leave a Comment |

As Marvel‘s new Heroic Age continues to unfold, we’ve turned our attentions to the relaunched New Avengers #1 by Brian Bendis and Stuart Immonen. Issue #2 ships today and I’m not so sure it will be staying on our pull lists.

PTB: I really like the art in this book, but I’m not sure how I feel about the content. Where this team fits into the new status quo is interesting since they’re using the old mansion and free from Iron Man and Steve Rogers, but  I don’t like that there’s overlap with this line up and the Avengers title.

KevinMLD: Yeah to me this is a really redundant title. It almost seems like it should have been a miniseries that ends with Spider-man, Wolverine, Cage and whoever else learning to trust Stark again and rejoining the main team.

The Emmys are Full of Glee…Unfortunately

The cast of Glee

Glee (Airs on Fox)

I love mind-numbing and/or trashy TV. I could watch Maury Povich pronounce, “you are not! the father” for 24 hours straight. And as far as Teen Dramas go, not only did I grow up with the kids from Degrassi High and The OC, but 90210 and Gossip Girl are still on the radar. I am the lowest common denominator of the TV generation. But even I have my limits, and Glee just passed over that by one pregnant belly.

World Cup – That was it? Seriously?

Posted by under *dislike, Sports | Join The Discussion |

The World Cup is a cool idea. It’s like the World Baseball Classic, but with motivated American players. However, after seeing this U.S. team play four games all of which were tied at the 90 minute mark, I have to say I’m not impressed. You people who were so thrilled by the U.S. performance need to explain it to me because I just don’t get it. Fifty percent of their games ended with NO winner. Do you know the only way that happens in baseball? If the game is cancelled due to rain (or snow… stupid Colorado). Those games are later made up… and someone WINS. Because that’s what is supposed to happen at the end of a competitive sporting event.

5 guys couldn’t drag me back

Posted by under *dislike, Food | Join The Discussion |

Why did I even waste my time eating here? Oh right… I was hungry. Maybe I’m spoiled growing up with Nifty Fifty’s, but 5 Guys Burgers and Fries does nothing for me. The burgers are average at best, the fries were okay and they get points for having malt vinegar for their fries, but the small menu, the lousy service (they got my order wrong… on a cheeseburger with the works) and the color scheme rip off of Nifty Fifty’s make it a very lackluster experience in my stomach’s eye.

I think this is my first dislike, and boy did I dislike. I may have to eat at Nifty Fifty’s to repair the damage.
