I found nothing wrong with Indiana Jones 4

Posted by under *like, Movies |

I didn’t really think about it until this weekend, but on some level I actively avoided seeing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  After hearing so many people come away disappointed when it was released last year, I clearly let that affect my efforts to see it.  It’s not like it’s something I’d run out to see, but I think I would have checked it out before this weekend if I was really unaffected.

After watching, I can find nothing wrong with this movie.  It fits well stylistically with the previous chapters.  It acknowledges what came before and broke new ground.  Nothing is any more far fetched or unbelievable than a Nazi melting smoke monster.  Shia Labeouf was annoying, but I think you could have the same reaction to Short Round.  Honestly, if you liked any of the Indiana Jones movies you should like this.  My only complaint, no monkey assassin.

Your wrong, Pete. Swinging monkeys? Indy not solving any puzzles, but crazy scientist does all the work? Indy got older and dumber.

I think Indy was solving puzzles throughout the movie. All the cryptic symbols and phrases he was decoding have to count. While the crazy scientist was the source for many of them, he was basically speaking for the skull and by extension an alien language. Not to mention that Jones was the only one who got them through to the ship exceeding a lifetime’s work by John Hurt and the best efforts of a team of soviets. Swinging monkeys were on screen for all of two minutes and don’t really need to be addressed.

I didn’t say I hated Shia Labeouf in the movie, I just found his exaggerated greaser act to be a little too much early on.

As annoying as you find Shia, he carried Crystal Skull on his back to 1 star. He was the only redeemable part of the movie. He did the same with Transformers. Disturbia is a terrible Rear Window knock off, but Shia makes it somewhat enjoyable. The only part of the movie you hated was the only part worth salvaging.

WOW! I have never seen a *man* so defensive of the Labeouf. Although, I guess if you are on a first name basis with him….

I saw it last year when it was out, and… I’m still not sure what my thoughts are regarding the 4th chapter of Indy’s adventures. I wanted him to be more… SOMETHING. I’m just not sure what, and I felt like the writing might have been rushed, because some things felt just a touch too convenient at times.

But… it IS Indiana Jones, and for me, Indiana Jones is like pizza and intercourse. Even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good! And covered in cheese!
