REVIEW: Doctor Who – Day of the Moon

Posted by under *like, Television | Leave a Comment |

Just when I think this show and its creators can’t outdo themselves, they do. Details about this past weekend’s new episode of Doctor Who, Day of the Moon, will follow. If you haven’t watched the show, I highly recommend that you do. They do a much better job of telling the story than I could possibly hope to. I’m just thrilled to have the show back for another season and can’t wait to jump right in.

Spoilers ahead.

REVIEW: Doctor Who – The Impossible Astronaut

I try not to think about Doctor Who when it’s between seasons because it just makes me miss it that much more. The wait is now over as the newest series began in the US on BBC America this weekend and it did not disappoint. The Impossible Astronaut introduced a complex story that looks as if it might play out over the entire upcoming season (and may have even started before anyone realized). We’ve seen a lot of wild preview images for this year including a bearded straightjacketed Doctor that suggest a lot twists and turns coming up. Seeing them unfold one week at a time should be delightfully agonizing.

I’m sure I will spoil things moving forward.

REVIEW: Doctor Who – A Christmas Carol

Posted by under *like, Television | Leave a Comment |

This is probably the best of the Doctor Who Christmas episodes since the show’s return in 2005. Of course, I’m ignoring last year’s epic two-parter in that assessment, but that wasn’t so much a Christmas story as the others. This year’s episode took me a bit by surprise because after hearing it billed as A Christmas Carol, I automatically assumed the worst. I’m happy to say that Steven Moffat proved those assumptions wrong in every way imaginable, and I didn’t have to suffer through an insufferable Tiny Tim at all. I’ll be the one spoiling Christmas from here out, so consider this a warning.

Christmas Day with Doctor Who

It really is Christmas this year as the annual Doctor Who Christmas Special will air on December 25th in the U.S. on BBCAmerica. The only downside is that my local television signal provider does not carry that channel in high definition. This is minor since I won’t have to wait even one day to see what’s in store for The Doctor, Rory Campbell and Amy Pond this year, but still it would be nice.
