REVIEW: X-Factor #230 (X-Men Regenesis)

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

The final series in Marvel’s X-Men line to reach the Regenesis rebranding might be the most difficult one for me to review. I’m an unapologetic fan of Peter David, X-Factor, and Havok so  I had high expectations going in. I can honestly say that X-Factor #230 took me a bit by surprise with its approach and I should never have doubted how David would handle his book being a little more connected to the rest of the X-titles after several years of making its own way.

Spoilers for X-Factor #230 will follow.

REVIEW: Uncanny X-Force #19 (X-Men Regenesis)

It was going to be difficult to follow the events of Uncanny X-Force #18, but writer Rick Remender continues to impress as the series enters the X-Men: Regenesis era. The X-Force team has been put through the wringer and the status quo for a number of characters has dramatically shifted. Issue #19 provides a coda for what’s come before and sets the cast on the next stage of their journey. It’s a good example of how the latest X-Men rebranding effort should be applied to a later issue of an ongoing series.

Spoilers for Uncanny X-Force #19 will follow.

REVIEW: X-Men: Legacy #259 (X-Men Regenesis)

This week’s X-Men: Legacy #259 rounds out November’s X-Men: Regenesis books. Since we’ll be waiting on Uncanny X-Force and X-Factor to catch up to this latest launch point for Marvel’s Mutants in December and January respectively, it was nice to have one more Regenesis book ship this month after the flurry of titles that were released a few weeks ago.

This will probably read a bit like a eulogy as X-Men: Legacy #259 is the penultimate issue of Mike Carey’s seven year run on the title but I’ll try to stay focused. Spoilers will follow.

REVIEW: Generation Hope #13 (X-Men Regenesis)

Posted by under *like, Comics | Join The Discussion |

James Asmus’ first issue of Generation Hope taking over for Kieron Gillen (who gave fans permission to buy the book since he didn’t have any of his own on the shelf this week) manages to strike a nice balance familiarizing readers with the principal characters and their mission, bringing new characters into the mix, and launching the team into their first adventure following Schism. Ibraim Roberson also enters as the book’s regular artist and all told the Regenesis rebranding has been very good to this title.

Spoilers for Generation Hope #13 will follow.

X-Men: Regenesis on MyLatestDistraction

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

The X-Men are very important to me and after months of anticipation the latest landmark moment for Marvel’s mutants is finally here in the form of  X-Men: Regenesis. All week we’ve had a lot to say about what’s seen print so far and as the rebranding rolls out through November there’s bound to be a lot more.

In order to keep track of all of our coverage, we’ve put together a portal to all things Regenesis here on MLD in our “Featured Posts” section. The page will serve as an ongoing collection of reviews and reactions to what’s happening within the X-Men line. Two new series, Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo’s Wolverine and the X-Men and a new volume of the long running Uncanny X-Men by Kieron Gillen and Carlos Pacheco are already underway and all of the existing X-titles are seeing changes.

Check out everything that’s there now and be sure to come back for more X-Men: Regenesis on MyLatestDistraction!
