WWE King of the Ring 2010

WWE Monday Night Raw returns to my hometown of Philadelphia tonight and in a surprise move brings the King of the Ring Tournament with it. Well, it was a surprise to me at least as I didn’t find out about it until watching last week’s show (to be fair, I’m also slightly surprised every time that I see that the Wachovia Center is now the Wells Fargo Center). This will be another 3-hour broadcast and the second this month in Pennsylvania after “WWE Old School Night” two weeks ago in Hershey.

While it was once an annual event, there hasn’t been a King of the Ring tournament since William Regal won in 2008. I seriously considered going tonight, but as you’ll see the bad outweighed the good.

The State of the X-Men – Fall 2010

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

There was a lot for this X-Men fan to be thankful for this week as all four major X-titles shipped on Wednesday. While in many ways this is great, I can’t help but recognize how much the publishing scheme for these books has changed after they had been coming out weekly for almost all of 2010. With this in mind, I thought it might be a good time revisit the state of the books post-Second Coming.

This will probably contain what some would consider spoilers, so keep that in mind if there are things you’d rather not know about these books.

REVIEW: Brightest Day #14

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

DC Comics’ Brightest Day 26-issue maxi-series has turned the corner into its second half with last week’s issue #14. This one had a huge guest star in the recently returned Bruce Wayne, but as you’ll read, you can’t always judge a book by its cover.

Spoilers ahead.

PTB: You must have enjoyed this more than the past few issues. I’m tempted to even say it’s the best of the series since the zero issue. It didn’t really advance the plot at all, but I enjoyed it very much.

KevinMLD: I absolutely agree this was the best issue in a while. The origin segment was clunky again; climaxing with the terrible Deadman on his knees pronouncing his desire to live scene… But besides that I enjoyed it.

Error Report… or Fun with YouTube

Posted by under *like, Music | Leave a Comment |

There are a lot of songs that I’m just not sure how they got on my iPod. Sometimes I discover that Angie has snuck Lady Gaga on there or downloaded some new music that she thinks I’ll enjoy. Then there are other times that I must have just forgotten that I discovered something on my own.

This was the case with Error. I don’t know anything about the band, but the song Brains Out played while I was walking through the city last week and I was shocked that I had something I enjoyed so much that I couldn’t tell you anything about. I listened to the rest of the EP and started digging for more as soon as I got to a computer.

HP7 – 7 Short Reviews

Posted by under *mixed, Movies | Leave a Comment |

Everyone is going to write up Harry Potter reviews. Not me. I didn’t read the books, so I don’t have much to say about the movie compared to what others would. It was fun. It was long. It was scary. It is weird that those little kids are adults.

Instead, I’ll review the trailers that played before the movie, since I was still completely awake at that point.

Green Hornet/Green Lantern – If I am going to see one green movie in 2011, it is going to be Green Hornet. It looks fun and it looks like it is meant to be fun. Green Lantern looks like it can’t decide what it wants to be. Read more of this article »
