Chris Jericho made a big return to WWE last week and got a lot of people talking by saying nothing.

This week’s Monday Night Raw from Corpus Christi, Texas, could be a wild one after the return of Chris Jericho last week in Memphis. That show had a lot of build up for the mysterious “return” of a Superstar after weeks of promotional videos. I don’t think anyone here came away disappointed with the revelation of Jericho, but his silence after hitting the ring choosing instead to continually play to the live crowd was the real surprise.

For a UK show, last week’s Monday Night Raw from Liverpool lacked any real hometown favorites on the card. This is strange considering past shows from England and the way hometowns have been recurring theme this year. C.M. Punk’s match with John Cena at Money in the Bank revolved around being held in Chicago this Summer. Tonight’s Raw is in Cena’s hometown of Boston and will feature the “return” the Rock. The Rock will be his tag team partner this Sunday at Survivor Series, but his opponent at WrestleMania 28 which will be held in the Rock’s hometown of Miami. With Wade Barrett getting a lot of attention lately, I expected him to at least appear on last week’s show. In fairness, Barrett did get a huge victory over Randy Orton on the UK edition of Smackdown, but we’re here to talk about Raw, where WWE decided to push newcomer Mason Ryan of Wales instead.

Last week’s Halloween edition of Raw had a lot going on. The live show was held in Atlanta, Georgia, the site of WrestleMania earlier this year and fans were treated to a main event rematch between John Cena and The Miz. The show also featured special guests The Muppets who got involved backstage and in the ring!

We’re somewhat divided with regard to our feelings on last week’s guest stars appearing on the show, but we agree that we’d both like to see a quality show that gets by on its own merits without The Muppets or the next week’s special attraction, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Spinning out of the annual Vengeance pay-per-view, the action continued on WWE’s Monday Night Raw in Austin, Texas. The show seemed to suffer from some poor choices with its use of air time, but overall it was an entertaining show. A lot of ground work was laid for the next big event, November 20th’s Survivor Series, and the return of the Rock. Tonight’s Halloween edition of the show should continue to move things in that direction, but the real treat will be special guest stars, The Muppets. When the Rock and Muppets are mentioned together I can’t help but think of Derek Jeter.

Monday Night Raw Warm Up for September 12th, 2011

Last week’s Labor Day edition of the RAW SuperShow from Columbus, Ohio went a long way building up to both this Sunday’s Night of Champions pay-per-view and perhaps gave the first hints of what’s in store for the annual Survivor Series. Tonight’s show should put everything together for the next event and give the typical final word for what we’ll see on Sunday. Regardless of what goes down, it looks like the most interesting match on the card, Triple H versus C.M. Punk, will not involve a championship of any kind on a night where every match is supposed to be a title match.
