Re-Enter, the Man Called Havok!

Alex Summers, also known as Havok, is arguably my favorite character from Marvel’s X-Men comic books. Unfortunately, his publication history is defined by long stretches of time off panel dating back to his earliest appearances. The most recent of these absences finally concludes today in the pages of X-Men: Legacy #254, the first chapter of a story called “Five Miles South of the Universe.” In commemoration of his return, we’ve even created a sub-site dedicated to Havok here at MLD as a resource for fellow fans.

REVIEW: Flashpoint #4

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

The cover to Flashpoint #4 makes it abundantly clear that Barry Allen is about to encounter more familiar faces that have been drastically altered in the Flashpoint timeline. Despite this being the first major appearance of Wonder Woman and Aquaman in the main Flashpoint series, everything comes together very nicely. As we head toward the finale of this book, and ostensibly the DC Universe as we know it, seeing many of the tie-ins and their respective characters dovetail into the events here is a nice touch.

Spoilers from around the world of Flashpoint to follow.

We’re back from our weekend at the 12th Annual Baltimore Comic Con and are working on putting together all of our photos and thoughts on the show. Suffice it to say the event was well attended, well organized, and I can’t see how it can be categorized as anything other than a complete success.

Look for more here on MLD as we process all the good stuff we came away with.

Standouts on our “must see” list include Neal Adams, David Finch, Frank Cho, Nick Spencer, Scott Snyder and Jason Aaron. If you’re a fan of comic books, Baltimore is a show you should have on your calendar.

The Great Food Truck Race premieres tonight at 10PM on Food Network

Angie is a big fan of food, and her interest in all things Food Network has become infectious. It started with a Chopped marathon that kept me up late one night long after she’d fall asleep after turning it on, and led to my watching this season of The Next Food Network Star with her every week. I’m even rooting for “The Sandwich King” Jeff Mauro because his motto of “every meal into a sandwich, every sandwich into a meal” agrees nicely with my life plan. Even though we skip the commercials of nearly everything we watch anymore, it was impossible not to catch promotional material for this new season of The Great Food Truck Race and it looks like it will nicely fill the void after tonight’s Food Network Star finale .
