Last week WWE delivered arguably one of its top Monday Night Raw shows of the year right in our hometown of Phildelphia, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately other priorities kept us away from the live show, but it was certainly one we would have both liked to have been there for. It was difficult not to notice the flatness of a typically vocal Philadelphia crowd as the night wore on even with a stellar main event featuring new United States Champion Zach Ryder, new World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and WWE Champion C.M. Punk. Tonight’s Raw from Chicago should go down in front another typically outstanding audience as Punk returns home for the first time since hijacking the WWE title at last July’s Money in the Bank in front of a crowd that was positively explosive.
2011 is rapidly approaching its conclusion and everyone here at MLD would like to thank all of our visitors for stopping by this year. The distractions were many and today has been no different.
Birds, babies and Doctor Who have all been a big part of the day that extended into some incredibly fun gifts this year. The Doctor’s part in things will continue right into tonight’s Christmas Special on BBC America that has become something of a holiday tradition around here.
Check out MLD’s past Christmas coverage and enjoy your holidays!
The latest issue of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee’s “New 52″ Justice League series appeared on shelves and screens around the world yesterday and ratchets up the action for the team’s first adventure. Aquaman is featured on the cover this month and gets some great panel time within, but once again a fair amount of attention is given to Cyborg. The new team, their new threat and all of their interpersonal conflicts really start to come together here as two top creators look to take DC’s top heroes to new heights.
Spoilers for Justice League #4 will follow.
It was going to be difficult to follow the events of Uncanny X-Force #18, but writer Rick Remender continues to impress as the series enters the X-Men: Regenesis era. The X-Force team has been put through the wringer and the status quo for a number of characters has dramatically shifted. Issue #19 provides a coda for what’s come before and sets the cast on the next stage of their journey. It’s a good example of how the latest X-Men rebranding effort should be applied to a later issue of an ongoing series.
Spoilers for Uncanny X-Force #19 will follow.
Last week we spent some time talking about The Dark Knight Rises prologue and since then we’ve seen a “leaked” copy of the script for that scene as well as the official release of a new trailer for the movie (currently running before Mission Impossible 4 on IMAX screens as well). I think it’s safe to say we would’ve been a lot better off having seen the trailer before the prologue as well as getting our hands on a copy of the script that was “leaked” last week as well.
Another spoiler filled discussion of the prologue and The Dark Knight Rises in general follows…
