World Cup – USA vs Algeria LIVE – Updated with disallowed goal video

We are without our resident World Cup expert for the US team’s final play-in game versus Algeria. I’ll do my best to keep up. A win for the US gets them into the knockout round. A tie makes things complicated for advancement, and no one wants to see another of those anyway.

Midtown Comics’ Avengers Signing

We spent the day in New York City on Monday and the main attraction bringing us there was the Avengers signing at Midtown Comics in Times Square. Featuring writers Christos Gage, Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction and Brian Bendis, this was a welcome event after a Philadelphia Comic Con that was light on comics. It was well worth the trip even on a day that was particularly hot in the big city.

The Onion. Dot com?

Pete and I are enjoying a day in New York City today. It has been the perfect day for it. Hot, but not too hot. Now comes the part that I dread though. Waiting in line for stuff. At least there are things in the immediate surroundings to keep me amused. For example, what’s up with the onion just hanging out behind the door in a clothing store? Weird, right?

Philadelphia Comic Con: A view from the floor

As we wrap up our coverage of last weekend’s Philadelphia Comic Con, we shift the focus to some final words on the fans, the vendors and the guests in attendance. Since I wasn’t feeling qualified to judge the show fairly, it seemed like a good idea to ask the people we met what they thought. REVIEW: Doctor Who – Cold Blood

This was another solid episode for the season. This two-parter was primarily a horror story, and managed to show some of the best and worst aspects of human nature. Spoilers to follow.

The tone of the story dramatically shifts in part two as the mystery of the Silurians is revealed and the internal conflict of their society takes center stage. As the mammals and reptiles come together, the two species trying to resolve how they will share the planet brings up some interesting issues, but comes off a little silly in its presentation. This is quickly erased as the action picks up and the reptilian military makes their move. Read more of this article »
