REVIEW: Larfleeze Christmas Special

Posted by under *mixed, Comics | Leave a Comment |

The Larfleeze Christmas Special may have been my most anticipated comic of the year. While it wasn’t as good as I had imagined it to be in my head, it was still a pretty enjoyable book. Before I discuss the story, I figured maybe I should give you some background on this relatively new character, Larfleeze.

I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re talking about, Marvel

Posted by under *mixed, Comics | Leave a Comment |

All week Marvel has been releasing teaser images focusing on the concept of fear that feature some of their flagship characters. No one seems to know what these are actually teasing, but it seems the publisher may be gearing up for another crossover event.

Earlier in the month, Marvel announced a list of creators that they’ve referred to as “The Architects” (see below). All of the names were listed with the titles they’re currently working on along with a “secret project.” We should be getting another teaser image tomorrow, maybe we’ll learn what they’re all about as well.

No Comics Wednesday (for me)

Posted by under *mixed, Comics | Join The Discussion |

I can’t remember the last time this happened, but I have nothing on my pull list for this week. Plenty of books from all publishers will be on the shelves, but there’s honestly nothing that I normally read. Knowing that a week with no books shipping is likely scheduled for the Wednesday between Christmas and New Year’s Day again this year, it makes for a pretty bleak December of comic books for me.

In an attempt to compensate, Kevin and I thought we’d look at the shipping list for the today and next Wednesday (a lot of these books got pushed back to December 15th) and see what I could have bought if I had unlimited resources of time and cash. Even though we don’t necessarily read all of these books, there may be some spoilers to come.

REVIEW: Brightest Day #15

Posted by under *mixed, Comics | Leave a Comment |

DC Comics’ Brightest Day spent another issue focusing on a single character last week, with Martian Manhunter getting all of the attention this time. While the previous issue dedicated to Dead Man (with a special appearance by Bruce Wayne as Batman) advanced the plot of the series, that’s not necessarily true here. It was still a decent book, but we end up spending more time talking about Aqualad and Batman Beyond of all things.

If the content of Brightest Day can be interrupted by one digression after another, it only seems fair that our discussion of it follow the same course.

Spoilers ahead.

HP7 – 7 Short Reviews

Posted by under *mixed, Movies | Leave a Comment |

Everyone is going to write up Harry Potter reviews. Not me. I didn’t read the books, so I don’t have much to say about the movie compared to what others would. It was fun. It was long. It was scary. It is weird that those little kids are adults.

Instead, I’ll review the trailers that played before the movie, since I was still completely awake at that point.

Green Hornet/Green Lantern – If I am going to see one green movie in 2011, it is going to be Green Hornet. It looks fun and it looks like it is meant to be fun. Green Lantern looks like it can’t decide what it wants to be. Read more of this article »
