My Latest Pull List – November 27th, 2013

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

Big week. Nine new books on my list this Wednesday.

  • ALL-NEW X-MEN #19 – This has become the book I look forward to most every time I see it on my list. I like the changes Battle of the Atom introduced for the Original Five and can’t wait to see where things are headed next.
  • BLACK SCIENCE #1 – A new Image series from Rick Remender. Also, science!
  • INFINITY #6 – This event has lost me a bit in the later chapters, but I’m expecting the finale to win me back over. Adam Kubert’s cover is excellent.
  • NEW AVENGERS #12 – An Infinity tie-in. Definitely my favorite of the Avengers titles.
  • SAGA #16 – Glad to see this shipping regularly.
  • UNCANNY AVENGERS #14 – A Steve McNiven cover and interior artwork is a huge plus.
  • UNCANNY X-FORCE #14 – I think I’ve fallen a few issues behind here.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #38Battle of the Atom fallout focusing of SHIELD.
  • WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN ANNUAL #1 – An Infinity tie-in. What ever happened to Kid Gladiator…

The Day of the Doctor

Doctor_Who_50th_AnniversaryIt’s been a long time since I’ve written about anything other than the comics I’m buying each week, but it feels like even longer that I’ve been waiting for today’s Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special. A worldwide commercial-free simulcast of the anniversary episode at 2:40PM this afternoon is enough to break the silence.

My Latest Pull List – November 20th, 2013

Six new books on my list this week including IDW’s Doctor Who, Marvel’s Infinity, and X-Men, X-Men, X-Men!

  • AVENGERS #23 – An Infinity tie-in. It feels like Infinity has lost some steam in recent weeks. The final stretch with Thanos and the Black Order may be able to turn that around.
  • CABLE AND X-FORCE #16 – I’m more interested in this series since the announcement of the upcoming crossover with Uncanny X-Force. With the return of Bishop, these books have been on a collision course since the outset. I’m also a big fan of the cover for this issue.
  • DOCTOR WHO: PRISONERS OF TIME #12 – This series is wrapping up just in time for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special this Saturday. The last three issues shipped in the last three weeks to make it happen.

  • UNCANNY X-MEN #14 – I’m very happy to see Chris Bachalo doing the art for the issue as we se the fallout from Battle of the Atom. Not sure who that is on the cover.
  • X-MEN LEGACY #20 – Still behind on my reading here.
  • X-MEN #7 – New story arc, new team members, and lots of talk about Brian Wood this week.

My Latest Pull List – November 6th, 2013

Six new books on my list this week including new Doctor Who, Forever Evil, and Longshot?!.

  • AMAZING X-MEN #1 – I really want to be excited for the launch of this series, but I can’t say that I am. Bringing back a character is always a loaded prospect and the “death” being undone here was a big one. Jason Aaron’s Wolverine and the X-Men has done less and less for me each month since it started, but his Battle of the Atom issues are notable exceptions. At least this should look great with Ed McGuinness on board.
  • CAPTAIN MARVEL #17 – I still need to catch up on The Enemy Within before reading this.
  • DOCTOR WHO: PRISONERS OF TIME #10 – We should finally see The Doctor face the enemy of the series here. Of course I’ve thought that before.
  • FOREVER EVIL #3 – With Marvel’s Infinity and Battle of the Atom flying by, it’s hard to believe that DC’s Forever Evil  is only at issue #3. It’s not a bad thing by any means, just a very different publishing schedule for three event/crossover series that started at roughly the same time.
  • LONGSHOT SAVES THE MARVEL UNIVERSE #1 – Marvel has shipped a few of these “(Insert Character) Saves/Kills the Marvel Universe” series over the past year and I haven’t paid much attention to any of them. Adding Longshot to the list of characters starring in these books (alongside the Punisher, Deadpool, and Wolverine) certainly captured my attention.  I’m not totally sure about this one, but it will get a serious look at the store.
  • X-MEN: LEGACY #19 – Need to catch up on this one as well.
