REVIEW: New Mutants #33 (X-Men Regenesis)

There are a lot of good things happening with this book both inside and out. All of the X-titles have new logos on their covers as part of X-Men: Regenesis courtesy of designer Jared Fletcher. This was the first time I’d really looked at his New Mutants logo and I like it a lot, particularly the alignment of the “W” and “M” and the incorporation of an “X.” I also appreciated the “moving” theme of Jason Pearson’s cover image coming out of X-Men: Schism and its slight misdirection.

Spoilers for New Mutants #33 will follow.

New York Comic Con 2011 X-Men: Regenesis panel

We’ve spent a good bit of time talking about this Fall’s X-Men: Regenesis here at MLD. Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

When Marvel’s May solicitations appeared earlier this month a group of books were very conspicuous by their absence. Four X-Men titles (Uncanny X-Men, X-Men: Legacy, New Mutants, and Uncanny X-Force) had no listings and it was clear that something was up. Last week Marvel released a set of teaser images for these titles and they’re giving more details all this week on Marvel.com. Every day at 3PM Marvel will host a series of “liveblogs” focusing on what they’re calling MMXI: Year of the X-Men featuring X-editor Nick Lowe and the creators behind each of these titles kicking off yesterday with New Mutants.

2010 Holiday Reading List Day Three The Thanos Imperative

Posted by under *like, Comics | Leave a Comment |

Marvel’s cosmic heroes have been experiencing a true renaissance since 2006’s Annihilation miniseries. Writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, ofter referred as DnA when working together, have been the hands guiding these space adventures that have followed since that series, and The Thanos Imperative is the culmination of much of that work. In issue #1, it’s stated that “the trouble with war out here in the stars, [is] it gets big” and this series is “big” in every way imaginable. After reading nearly every cosmic book that’s shipped in that last few years, I was disappointed when I fell behind on this one, but once I picked it back up it was impossible to put down.
