REVIEW: Doctor Who – The Big Bang

Posted by under *like, Television | Leave a Comment |

My review of this year’s season finale is coming very late, mostly because I was so blown away by it. The previous episode brought together so much of the season and left the universe in dire peril. It turns out, it was even worse than that, but The Doctor managed to save the day. Things will be spoiled should you decide to read on.

Weeds Season Premiere

Posted by under *like, Television | Leave a Comment |

Recently I had a lot of free time on my hands. You would think unemployment would have meant a lot of posts from me, but you would have been very wrong. Instead of writing, I did a lot of watching. I found the full value in my Netflix account. I used much of my time to discover shows I hadn’t had a chance to watch yet.

In a matter of days, I watched the first five seasons of Showtime’s Weeds. I told Pete I would write up each season, but that didn’t happen. I’m not one to write about TV really. So I decided to put it together and based on the premiere of season six, let you know whether you should be watching Weeds or not. Read more of this article »

REVIEW: Doctor Who – The Pandorica Opens

Posted by under *like, Television | Join The Discussion |

Before the opening credits rolled, it became clear that everything that’s happened this season has been for a reason and nothing was left out. It’s a testament to Steven Moffat’s talents that he’s taken his new creations and made them such a compelling part of the series, while at the same time acknowledging the show’s history. With all the changes that came this season (a new Doctor, new companions and a new head writer) it’s obvious the show is in good hands.

Spoilers next.

Top Chef – Washington, DC… sucks.

Posted by under *dislike, Television | Leave a Comment |

This is not a play-by-play of the current season of Top Chef. I could give you one, but it would be a lot of “you suck” and “I miss Jennifer Carroll” quotes. I think it is safe to say that this season of Top Chef is by far its worst.  Not only do I know it, but Bravo knows it.

Season 6 in Las Vegas could not be topped.  There were four chefs — Mike Voltaggio, Brian Voltaggio, Jennifer Carroll, and Kevin Gillesppie — that made meals that looked so good and, in some cases, used complicated techniques never seen on the show. All four of those chefs would win this season without question. Eli, who was fifth, would likely be the favorite, if not top 3.  The season has little talent and even fewer interesting chefs.

Fall 2010 Network TV Preview

Posted by under *mixed, Television | Leave a Comment |

I’m a 34 year old pop culture fanatic. I take my TV very seriously and am a proud couch potato. Don’t get me wrong, I like to get out and explore, but the best part of my day can be watching a quality TV show that rips your heart out (a la Joss Whedon). The biggest fight my husband and I have ever had is over the fact that Direct TV doesn’t have a Tivo (stinkin sub-par DVR). A couple of years ago I started doing an entertainment news-type update for my friends. Basically I just rant and rave about TV (and sometimes movies), but I take pride in the fact that I’ve turned some of my friends on to shows they probably never would have watched before.

You can see teasers for all of the new Fall shows on the corresponding network website. So of course, I watched all of them. Without further ado, we have attached the Fall 2010 schedules for each network color coded as new shows in green, new time slots in red and any titles in bold are shows I’ll be watching.
